VAWA Lawyer: Immigration Protection for Victims of Abuse

No one should have to remain in an abusive environment just to maintain their legal status in the United States. If you have been the victim of abuse by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder), you may be eligible to secure your own immigration status independently under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

At Hayoon Kane Law Firm, we provide highly confidential, trauma-informed legal support. While our office is based in Las Vegas, we are federal immigration lawyers who handle VAWA petitions for clients nationwide.

Who is Eligible for Protection Under VAWA?

To qualify for a VAWA visa, you must fall into one of the following categories:

Spouse VAWA

For those currently or previously married to an abusive U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Child VAWA

For unmarried children abused by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident parent.

Parent VAWA

For parents of U.S. citizen children who are over the age of 21 and suffered abuse.

*Note: Abuse does not have to be strictly physical. Emotional abuse, financial control, sexual abuse, and threats of violence also qualify as extreme cruelty under VAWA.
